Toronto Solar Cost Guides (2026)

Last updated By The SolarPanelFinder Rooftop Desk

Solar is one of the few home projects where the published prices and the quote on your kitchen table rarely match, because most of the cost sits in the roof and the electrical service rather than in the panels. These 8 guides take each job apart line by line for the Greater Toronto Area. Prices are Canadian dollars, dated August 2026, and every one names the source it came from so you can check it yourself.

Which cost guide do you need?

8 researched pricing guides for the Greater Toronto Area, each with a full source-cited price table and local questions answered.

Before you price anything

Ontario pays toward rooftop solar, but the rebate and net metering cannot be combined, and that choice changes what a system is worth to you.

Frequently asked questions

Where do these solar prices come from?

Every figure on these pages is quoted from a named Canadian source and shown next to the source it came from, so you can open it and check the number yourself. Nothing is estimated by us. Where two sources disagreed we widened the range rather than picking the one we liked, and each guide lists its sources in full at the bottom of the page.

Do these prices include HST?

No, unless a row says otherwise. Ontario charges 13 percent HST on solar installation and electrical work, and contractor price lists are normally quoted before tax. Add the tax before you compare two quotes, and check whether a competing bid is tax-in or tax-extra, because that difference alone can make the cheaper-looking bid the more expensive one.

Why is a solar quote so specific to one house?

Because most of the cost is not the panels. Roof pitch, height and orientation, how many faces the array is split across, the age of the electrical service, the run from the array to the panel, and whether the roof needs work first all change the labour and materials. Two houses on the same street can price very differently, which is why a written site-specific quote beats any published range.

Should I get more than one quote?

Yes. Compare at least three written quotes for the same system size and confirm each one lists panel and inverter model numbers, the warranty terms for equipment and for workmanship separately, who pulls the permits, and who handles the electrical inspection. A quote that only shows a single total is not comparable to one that itemizes.
